ポケモン不思議なダンジョン・鎌倉の探検隊 (Dongeon Mystere – Equipe d’exploration de Kamakura)

Private
joke to mix both our recent visit to Kamakura and our acquisition of
the last Fushigi no Dungeon.

It
was a sunny day on wich we decided to go on a pilgrimage in
Kita-Kamakura. Easy for me, the Yokosuka line brings me directly to
Kamakura station. I soon receive a mail from Seth telling me he ‘ll
be late. Perfect occasion to feel the loneliness of those who put
their trust in the hand of gods. As well as the occasion to listen to
Valkyrie Profile Silmeria, a fitting music to this idle place. Having
seen all the temples in this area, I randomly went in a path through
the forest. I swear it, this path was one of the harder I’ve ever
seen! It keep going up and down, with no prospect of leading
anywhere. It was so dense that you couldn’t even see the city, it’s
just like
迷いの森 in
Toroneko no boken. I turned back before getting completely lost and I
went to the station. The road that goes by the station has a dense
traffic but the shops on it have no clients nor shopkeepers, it’s
just like a ghost town. Once he arrived, we visited the most
important temples of the area, and he enlightened me on many of the
buddhist sacred writings all around the place. Temples are great just
for that, you’ll never this kind of kanjis in your book, I guarantee.
Actually, knowing Chinese helps a lot to find out what temples tell
you because Buddhism is Chinese in the first place. So as to escape from the blue man, we settle on the edge of a pond, having previously prepared a good quantity of sake and beer, and started talking about random things like Zelda or Love Hina.

Life
in Heiwadai keeps going at a weird pace (I go to Heiwadai as much as
possible since Seth is going to Kansai soon) :

Tekken
games are growing more violent every time, as much as our american
slang is growing louder.

Don’t
mind what I said earlier about Go, Seth is a genius. At this rate, he
could play professional in no time. I lost the last game, but won the
bonus match…

Lately,
our manga selection has broaden some quite, with excellent but
difficult books like
谷口ジロ‘s
(Taniguchi Jiro) or
治虫手塚‘s
(Osamu Tetsuka). It is interesting to see how all started from Osamu
Tetsuka. For example
浦沢直樹‘s
(Urasawa Naoki) Pluto is
directly inspired from volume 3 of
鉄腕アトム
(Astroy boy) – it’s the
same characters and the same storyline – but Urasawa Naoki wanted
to make more realistic and somewhat more dramatic.
火の鳥
(Hi no Tori) is a story
that revolves around a Phoenix the blood of which makes immortal
those who drink it – the connection with Final Fantasy is obvious.
There’s also one character of his that has the same eyepatch as
Zaraki Kenpachi of Bleach. Also part of the ‘who’s inspired whom
chapter’
銭形平次
is a character of
classical Japanese litterature, but also the model of Inspector
Zenigata in Lupin 3
rd.

Sakusaku
is a talk show that looks like
落語
(rakugo = comedy show) but
in more modern. It’s a bunch of short comedy talks slightly subtile
but hilarious when you can understand them. (NB : Misao imitates
rakugo in Kenshin 10).

不思議のダンジョン
(Mystery Dungeon) is a
game series known in Europe via its Pokemon title, but has originally
2 more important and way more difficult games : Furai no Shiren and
Toroneko no boken. I randomly went to buy the latest (
時の探検隊
> Time exploration
team) and when I began it Seth stormed out and rode his bike to the
shop to get the second one (
闇の探検隊
> Darkness exploration
team).

I went to Shinjuku this morning (Sunday) and found out that the East part was closed to traffic, it’s the 歩き放題 just like Akiba. Imagine the Champs Elysees closed to traffic every Sunday… perhaps someone could suggest that to Bertrand Delanoe.
